The nervous system can be compared to a command center that sends electromagnetic signals to your brain, spine, and nerves, coordinating sensation, breathing, heartbeat, movement, sight, digestion, and more. Impairment or dysregulation of the nervous system can lead to headaches, tremors, seizures, indigestion, and more. Conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy impair the nervous system.

Electromagnetic Oxidative Stress Science:

EMF Science Supporting Change

Scientists in the field recognize that electromagnetic fields, including from ordinary wireless and electrical technology, can have potent biological effects at legal, non-thermal levels and that current regulation is negligent and cavalier. Industry is able to bury this information by purchasing multiple websites, front groups, a set few proxy ‘expert’ spokespersons, media and search engine placement, but concrete findings of harm are a reality.

IARC – The WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified as possibly carcinogenic, the same category as lead, both radiofrequency radiation (e.g., wireless) in 2011 and extremely low frequency fields (e.g., power line frequencies or fields from electricity) in 2001. Unlike then WHO EMF Project and later iterations, the IARC working groups were largely composed of independent, non-industry affiliated scientists. However, these groups included industry monitors and limitations, such as the 2011 working group exclusion of substantial studies completed in foreign countries or upon animals.
Recent Research on Wireless Radiation and Electromagnetic Fields – Joel Moskowitz, PhD, at the School of Public Health, University of Berkeley, maintains a current compilation of more than 2500 abstracts of studies since 2016. ICBE-EMF dot org – While not providing a collection of numerous scientific studies, the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields is a multi-disciplinary international consortium of scientists, doctors and researchers with expertise in the biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic field (EMF) frequencies up to 300 GHz advocating for reducing exposures.
EMFscientist dot org – Numerous appeals by scientists in the field exist online. The EMF scientist appeal, first presented to the UN and WHO in 2021, describes the urgent need for safer electromagnetic exposures to protect life and the fertility of both humans beings and of our environment.
BioInitiative dot org – Reports written by many experts in their respective fields in 2007 & 2012, this includes a comprehensive collections of thousands of reviewed studies regarding biological effects freely available online, in addition to an ongoing compilation by Henry Lai, PhD, bioengineering professor Emeritus at UW. Dr. Lai provides abstracts of current studies by category, and provides the percentage of studies providing evidence of biological effects. In addition to Dr. Lai, experts include Carl F. Blackman, PhD, the founder and former president of the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) and Martin Blank, PhD, also a former president of BEMS. Note the BEMS has historically had ties to industry and defense, and admitting biological effects has been a weak point for BEMS. Both Blackman and Blank have diverged, have appropriate academic credentials , and have prepared reports, respectively, on modulating signal effects and the biological stress response. Wikipedia and search engine summaries claiming the Bioinitiative is not to be trusted ought to be recognized as reflecting biased industry preferences, and the Bioinitiative reports examined on their own merits.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 that focuses on research and advocacy related to environmental issues, including toxic chemicals, agricultural subsidies, and drinking water pollutants.
