2-Phase Timeline for Safer Tech

To place the safer tech law on the 2028 ballot, Massachusetts requires collecting more than 75K certified voter signatures. To guarantee success, our signature gathering occurs in two phases.

September 12-14, 2026: Distribute PDFs and printed packets to approved circulators.

  • Organization Objective: Establish an active legal presence at high-traffic zones and pull official state voter files to build our canvassing database.
  • Listening Objective: While collecting signatures, gather feedback from voters, test our message, and add supporters to our volunteer base.

Late Autumn 2026: Phase 1 Data Collection & Town Clerk Filing

  • Action: Gather initial sheets and submit them to Town Clerks for local verification. The state-wide deadline is Nov. 18, Wed., before 5 PM, but not all clerks are open on Wednesday.
  • Objective: Test local clerk processing times and map out high-yield signature locations.
  • Campaign Assessment: Analyze campaign needs and expand our volunteer network, training, and education.
  • Feedback, Expert Review, & Listening Tour: To perfect the petition’s text, analyze Phase 1 feedback and share the text with policy experts, legal minds, and community organizations.
  • August 2027 Resubmission: Officially resubmit an upgraded version of the initiative to the state, if necessary.

We hit the ground running utilizing the massive support and organization secured during Phase 1.
